The Artist and the Scientist
by Marc Cohen

What do you see, my dearest love
When regarding the night time sky?
Demanded the curious artist
Of her clever science guy

I see a glowing rock, said he,
That rules the ocean’s tide.
I see a trillion suns,
With only gravity their guide.

I see a sea of cosmic dust,
After eons of decay.
I see the remnants of a bang
Still echoing to this day.

He turned to gaze upon his love,
Continuing this game.
And what do you see, he queried her,
When you look upon the same?

I see a loving friend, she replied, Illuminating this eve.
I see a million points of light
Reminding us to breathe.

I see a blanket made of stars
Comforting this night.
I feel the vastness of this world
Ever bathed in light.
